Competition
Gunnamatta Water Polo Club competes in the Sutherland Shire Water Polo Association (SSWPA) competition, playing at Sutherland Leisure Centre against other local clubs each week.
What age groups can join Gunnamatta Water Polo Club?
We welcome juniors from under 7s through to under 15s, as well as U18 and Open (adult) players. Whether you’re new to water polo or experienced, there’s a team for you.
Allstars Program (U7–U9)
Our Allstars program is designed for children aged U7 to U9 who are new to water polo. All Stars learn how to play in a fun environment. Each week follows the same format, with kids doing swimming drills, learning to pass & shoot, and sometimes ending in a short match.
The All Stars kids play in the shallow end of the Olympic Pool – they can touch the bottom (though it’s not encouraged) and wear flotation belts for safety.
There is no club training for All Stars; children simply turn up each Saturday. The program runs from September to March, with a Christmas / New Year break.
Do I need to know how to play water polo to join?
No prior experience is needed! Our coaches teach all the skills step by step in a fun, supportive environment.
All Abilities Players
Gunnamatta Water Polo Club welcomes players of all abilities. We support the Sutherland Shire Water Polo Association (SSWPA) Polobility program, which provides opportunities for players with a disability to learn and enjoy water polo in a safe, inclusive environment.
