Gosford Junior Racing Fleet

Once kids transition out of the Learn to Sail Pathway (Green Fleet Program), they are encouraged to join the Junior Racing Fleet.
The Juniors (aged 11-17) race every Saturday throughout the sailing season.

September-April: Club Championship Series
September – December: Pointsore Spring Series
January-April: Pointscore Summer Series
April – Junior Racing Pointscore Series Concludes

- Junior Crew Evening – Crew a yacht during twilight racing (Wed 10th February 2027)
- Sail Gosford: NSW Open Skiff State Championships – Sat–Sun 10th-11th April 2027.
- Junior Fun Days – Refer to official calendar

Typical Junior Fleet Saturday Racing Schedule:

Time	Activity
8:30–11:30 AM	Optional boat work or parent meetings
11:30 AM	Arrival and rigging
12:00 PM	Lunch / Support boat volunteers prepare
12:30 PM	Junior briefing (led by Junior Coordinator)
1:00 PM	Launch boats
1:30 PM	First warning signal – Racing begins
3:30 PM	Final warning signal – Racing concludes
4:00 PM	Return to shore
4:30 PM	Junior presentation and awards

Additional Training: October-December 2026
In addition to the Core Racing Program, kids are encouraged to take part in additional training during the week via the Gosford Sailing Academy. This helps develop confidence and supports racing skills.

What Classes Are Sailed

The Junior fleet has multiple classes and fleets which race regularly on Saturday afternoons. These include:

Open Skiffs, Sabots, Optimists, PJ's
F11s, RS Fevas, ILCA 4.7s

Experienced Sailors – How To Join

Get a boat and come on down to Gosford Sailing Club….

Graduated from the Green Fleet Sailing Academy Learn to Sail
Purchased a suitable racing boat (Open Skiff, Sabot, Optimist, F11, ILCA 4.7)
Become a junior sailing member of the Gosford Sailing Club - $100. (Click Here)
Register into the annual racing program by completing race entry- $100. (Click Here)
Have Insurance for racing that includes $10m Public liability and 3rd Party Insurance. (Click Here)
Buy suitable safety gear such as a tow rope, enclosed shoes and life jacket. Refer to the Safety Checklist Here.
Parents- please ensure you join as a Volunteer Member to support on/off the water. (Click Here)
