That’s a wrap for the Gosford Sailing Academy RC Sailing STEM After-School Program!

Eight junior skippers completed four action-packed sessions, learning the fundamentals of RC sailing while engaging in hands-on STEM activities.

Participants developed skills in reading wind and weather, understanding RC yacht basics, using forecasting tools, and exploring boat mechanics through practical experiments. On the water, they built confidence in boat handling, racing rules, and tactical decision-making.

The final session marked a major milestone, with each skipper taking full responsibility for their own DF65 yacht—setting it up, tuning it, and competing in a short-course regatta around the buoys.

Gosford Sailing Academy is proud to see these juniors grow in confidence and capability, combining STEM learning with sailing enjoyment. Many participants have since booked into the Tackers 1 program at Gosford Sailing Academy.
