Dear EHA Members, Supporters and Sponsors,

You may already be aware that works have now commenced on our new synthetic turf project.

The Shire of Esperance is currently undertaking the early groundworks, including drainage, sub-base preparation, asphalt, kerbing and pavements, in readiness for the turf contractor to install the shock pad and synthetic surface. Electrical works for the new lighting will also take place, with fencing works to follow and complete the project. While the timeline is tight, we remain hopeful of reaching full completion by July 2026.

This milestone reflects many years of planning, advocacy and commitment from past and present committee members, along with the strong support of our broader hockey community. It is pleasing to see this long-anticipated project now taking shape.

Many in the community are watching progress with interest, and we encourage you to share our story and join us in the excitement as this important development comes to life. Soil removed from the hockey site is being stockpiled for future soccer redevelopment, and the cricket pitch has also been successfully relocated as part of the broader site works.

As construction progresses, there will be some impacts to parking and site access. We will provide further updates as we move closer to pre-season and training commencement. In the meantime, we encourage members to stay tuned to the Shire of Esperance’s social media channels for additional information regarding access to the site. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this significant phase of the project.

As we look ahead to the 2026 season, there is strong momentum within our Association. Behind the scenes, your committee and volunteers are working diligently to prepare for the year ahead. We will commence the season using our three grass fields and transition to the new turf as soon as it becomes available. Fixturing will remain consistent with previous years until the turf is ready, with any further updates communicated once finalised.
