We are pleased to welcome Emma Westlake to present a seminar on nutrition targeted at our athletes 16 years and older. Don't worry, there will be more seminars coming up soon for our younger athletes!
Emma is a Nutritionist, Accredited Sports Nutritionist and is currently studying a Master of Dietetic Practice. She is known for her caring and compassionate approach, supporting clients with tailored nutritional care to improve overall health, wellbeing and performance. Emma began her nutrition career studying Biomedical Science, ensuring her advice is always evidence-based and truth-led.
Emma has worked alongside High Performance teams within AFL, AFLW and Pathways programs including Essendon Football Club. She has a love of sports, training at state and national level for athletics, rugby 7s and basketball. She also has experience in triathlons and distance running, competing in various marathons and ultra marathons. Through her involvement in sports, Emma has had her fair share of injuries. As a result, she has a strong interest in the role of nutrition in not only optimising performance, but in injury prevention, recovery and rehabilitation.
She takes a flexible, balanced and sustainable approach to food. That means that all advice is tailored to suit your lifestyle, is simple and helps you reach your goals, whether that is to optimise sporting performance, change your body composition or improve your overall health and wellbeing.
This session will be 45 minutes plus extra question time at the end. Snacks and drinks will be provided, and preregistration is essential. There is no cost to YRA members and family. The session will have an emphasis on nutrition planning for pre, post and during training, the importance of nutrition and energy demands of life, work, study and then additional needs of training. We will also cover RED-s, Banned substances (Sport integrity Australia) and how to avoid them.
