About

Sport brings people together

Sport gives us more than something to play or watch. It gives us teammates, coaches, volunteers, supporters and friends. We train together, compete together and show up for one another week after week.

sUPport Day builds on those connections by giving sporting communities a reason to spend time together, have fun and check in with one another.

On Sunday 13 September 2026, clubs, teams and sporting organisations across Australia are invited to host an activity that suits their community. It could be a barbecue, a social match, a team breakfast, a walk or simply time set aside to talk.

There is no single way to take part.

Have fun. Check in. That’s the whole idea.

Why checking in matters

We see the people in our sporting communities regularly, but we do not always know when someone is having a difficult time.

sUPport Day is not about asking clubs or individuals to become mental health experts. It is about creating time and space for people to connect, start conversations and remind one another that support is available.

Sometimes a simple ‘How are you going?’ can make a difference.

Our purpose

sUPport Day brings sporting communities together to strengthen connections, encourage people to check in with one another and help create club environments where everyone feels supported.

Sport unites us. Support strengthens us.

Supporting Lifeline

sUPport Day proudly supports Lifeline and the vital crisis-support services it provides to Australians.

Clubs can choose to include a Lifeline fundraiser as part of their event, but fundraising is not required to take part. Bringing people together and creating an opportunity to check in is a meaningful contribution in itself.
