Why Volunteering at SSA Matters

 
At Sunbury Softball Association, our greatest asset is our people. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our club—keeping games running, facilities thriving, and players supported. Whether you're a seasoned player, a newcomer, or simply keen to contribute, there's a place for you here. SSA is currently seeking volunteers for key roles to help us grow and keep the spirit of softball alive!

Key Roles We’re Looking For

Canteen Manager 😋
Lead the charge on game days by managing stock, training helpers, and ensuring smooth, safe service. You’ll help create a welcoming space for players, families, and visitors to refuel and connect.
- 10-15 hours per fortnight including Friday evenings and Saturdays 11am - 6pm - SSA is open to assistance for single days (ie Fridays or Saturdays)
- Over 55s on Centrelink may be able to volunteer through Government program to cover hours as part of this program.
 
Grounds Manager  🌿
Keep our diamonds game-ready and safe. From prepping fields and checking fencing to coordinating repairs and liaising with contractors, this role is vital for smooth operations and player safety. 
- 10-15 hours per fortnight including Friday evenings and Saturdays 11am - 6pm - SSA is open to assistance for single days (ie Fridays or Saturdays)
- Over 55s on Centrelink may be able to volunteer through Government program to cover hours as part of this program.
 
Junior & Senior Coaches  🥎
Shape the next generation of players. Junior coaches focus on fundamentals, teamwork, and confidence-building. Senior coaches dive into strategy, performance, and leadership. SSA offers support and training to help you thrive in this role.
- Juniors 90 minutes Friday evenings, Seniors 1 mid-week training 90 minutes and Saturday game day 2 hours incl 90 minute game, start time between 12 and 4pm. 
 
Junior and Senior game Umpires & Scorers  📖
Ensure fair play and accurate records. Umpires keep games flowing and uphold the rules; scorers track every play and stat. No experience? No worries—SSA provides training and mentorship to get you started, and honorarium included. 
- Juniors (can be 14 and over), Friday evenings 60 minutes, Seniors 2 hours per game (90 min game plus admin) Saturdays, start time between 12 and 4pm.
