About Sunbury Softball Association
The Sunbury Softball Club, founded in 1985, began as a small local competition played on makeshift diamonds in a local park. As interest in the sport grew, the club expanded into a travelling league, competing against teams from Keilor, Sunshine, and other Victorian regions to test their skills and foster community connections.
In 2011, driven by a growing passion for the game and a desire to strengthen our presence, the club evolved into the Sunbury Softball Association (SSA) with the support of a dedicated committee and Hume City Council. This transition also marked the opening of our international-standard softball diamonds at John McMahon Reserve on Lancefield Road—the only softball-dedicated facility in Sunbury.
SSA proudly offers programs for t-ballers, juniors, and senior men’s and women’s teams, with a vibrant summer competition and pre-season games hosted locally. We also field representative teams for Masters (over 35s), Under 17s, and Open Championships, proudly competing against teams from across Victoria and Australia.
Over the years, several of our players have earned selection to represent Victoria at State level, competing nationally in their age groups—a testament to the strength of our programs and the dedication of our athletes.
