SOHO Pickleball uses OpenSports as a signup platform. Read about its features and what you should keep in mind when using the platform.

  1. Do I have to create an account and join South Hobart Pickleball on OpenSports?
    South Hobart Pickleball will be a private group on OpenSports, and only those who join us on OpenSports can view our page. You will also need an OpenSports account so that we can provide credit for any bookings you cancel (See 6). Please set up your account with your email (instead of Facebook etc.) so that you won’t miss any updates from us (See 3).
  2. What are the payment options?

    You can pay by major credit card, debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  3. Do I have to enable notification for OpenSports?
    We recommend that you enable notification so that you receive session information and waitlist notice quickly. If you disable notification, such information will be emailed to you. Note that you won’t receive the information if you (1) sign up to OpenSports with your Facebook account etc. (rather than email) AND (2) don’t enable notification.
  4. Is it difficult to sign up on OpenSports?

    It is very easy to sign up for a session or cancel the booking on OpenSports. Our team is happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have.

  5. What happens if I cancel my booking?

    If you cancel before the deadline (24 hours before the applicable session), OpenSports will automatically send credit worth the session fee to your OpenSports account, which you can use to book our session in the future. If you cancel after the deadline, no credit is issued.

  6. What if I am sick / injured / called in to a work or family matter unexpectedly?

    In the event of sudden illness / injury or unexpected family / work commitment that arises after the deadline, please (1) cancel your booking on OpenSports before the start of the session AND (2) email us (info@sohopickleball.org) with an explanation of your reason for cancelling. In this case, we will credit your OpenSports account even after the deadline. If you do not cancel the booking before the start of the session, it will be treated as a no-show and no credit will be issued.

  7. If I miss the deadline, do I still need to cancel my booking?

    Yes. If you cancel after the deadline, you won’t get account credit (unless there was an unforeseen circumstance; See 6). We still ask you to cancel you booking so that people on the waitlist get to take your spot and play in our session.

  8. Can I have a refund instead of OpenSports credit?

    If we provide a refund, Stripe (card payment clearing service) will charge us a fee. This is why OpenSports provides credit (not refund) by default.

  9. If a session is booked out, what can I do?

    You can join the waitlist on OpenSports. OpenSports will automatically notify you when someone cancels their booking.   10. Is there any other benefit in using OpenSports?

    OpenSports is used by a large number of pickleball groups in interstate cities including Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. If you want to play pickleball on your next getaway, chances are that you can use the same app to book a pickleball session available at your holiday destination.
