About

Saints Softball Club was established in 1965.

Founding member and inaugural Life member was our first club coach Merv Lane.  Merv was approached by an enthusiastic group of ladies wishing to play softball in the Brisbane Softball competition and he generously agreed.

CLUB NAME

A popular TV show in 1965 was a program called "The Saint".  This program was a favourite of Merv's and as such Saints Softball Club was born with the Saint stick figure as its emblem.  Saints Softball Club offered then, and continues to this day, Merv's core values - to be family focussed, a friendly and fair (but competitive) softball club that has influenced and impacted on the lives of many who have worn the green and gold.

Each year at our annual trophy presentation event, Merv's contribution is acknowledged through the awarding of the Merv Lane Clubperson of the Year.

CLUB REPRESENTATIVES - ASSOCIATION, STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL

Through it's strong coaching staff and retention of high quality players, Saints Softball Club continues to produce representative players across all representative levels.

From our U14/16/18/Open players selected to play for our Brisbane Association teams at various State Championships, through to our Queensland and Australian representatives – we are very proud of all the achievements of our players over the years.

Special mention and congratulations to former Saints players - Kaia Parnaby and Jade Wall - who competed in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

LIFE MEMBERS

Over the past 55 years, the club has recognised the outstanding contribution individuals have made to the success of the club.  To date Saints has granted 27 Life Memberships.  A large number of our life members continue to be actively involved in the club as both officials and/or players and many have continued the family tradition with their children now playing for Saints.  It has been this dedication and devotion that has made Saints such a successful club.
