Australian Sailing - Dinghy: Start Sailing 1 and Start Sailing 2

Course information

Ever wanted to learn to sail?

It’s never too late to get out on the water.

Whether you’ve always wanted to learn, would love to join your kids on the water, want to refresh some skills from years ago, or are simply looking for a new way to enjoy the River, our Adult Learn to Sail program at RYCT Off The Beach is a great place to start.

The program is designed for complete beginners, so no previous sailing experience is needed. You’ll learn in our two-person Pacer dinghies, sailing with another participant and supported on the water by our qualified Australian Sailing Instructors.

Across the course, you’ll learn how to rig and launch your boat, steer and control the boat, tack, stop safely and build the skills and confidence to get out sailing.

Most importantly, we want you to have a great time learning a new sport and becoming part of the sailing community at RYCT.

What do you need?

You’ll need to be a competent swimmer (50m swimming ability) and have enough mobility to get in and out of a dinghy and help move and rig boats around the club. There is a little bit of pushing and pulling boat trolleys, but we work together to make it easy.

We provide life jackets. A wetsuit is ideal, but warm clothes that you’re happy to get wet are absolutely fine too.

If you’ve spent enough time watching everyone else sail past and thinking, “I’d love to give that a go,” this is your chance.

Come and learn to sail with us at RYCT Off The Beach.
