In Tasmania it is a requirement that any recreational vessel operating outside of sheltered waters or carring an EVDS must carry a VHF marine radio. All users of a VHF radio must have a Marine operators certificate.

SROCP is designed for people operating VHF marine radio on recreational and commercial vessels.

We’ll work through routine radio procedures as well as distress, urgency and safety communications, including practical use of DSC. The emphasis is on understanding what to do, what to say and how to use the radio effectively when it matters.
