Looking for an excuse to get out on your boat in early spring and enjoy those crisp sunny days? Interested in a friendly competition with some nice prizes and a catch-up at the Club after the event?

The RYCT Cruising Committee is planning another Time Trial on 10 September for powerboats and yachts under power.

Our first event was a success with all participants reporting an enjoyable time, and the social catch up after the event was great. So we have decided to offer a second event before the sailing season consumes everyone's time and energy.

The format is simple. The Cruising Committee will present a route around buoys in the Derwent, all within a few miles of the club. You and your crew will estimate the time it will take you to complete the circuit and your average speed.

Each boat will start from off Castray Esplanade at 1-minute intervals, in order of slowest nominated speed to fastest, and finish back at Castray having rounded a series of turning marks from near Government House to Droughty Point. The crew which finishes at the time closest to their estimated time will receive a handsome prize!

Entry is via the online entry on the website and will cost you the princely sum of $20! Prizes are courtesy of our event sponsor Boat Sales Tasmania.

And we all get to enjoy a barbecue and a few convivial drinks back at the Club.

Detailswill be available soon on the club website. ryct.org.au
