Roddy Dowdell - CEO and Head of Basketball Operations

Hi I’m Roddy, founder and CEO of Rodman Basketball Club.

With over 30 years of experience as a player and coach, I’ve dedicated my life to the game. Rodman began in 2015 and has grown into the strong, community-focused club it is today—something I’m incredibly proud of.

I’ve played basketball at a high level and have coached across domestic, youth league, and representative pathways. As an accredited Skills Development Trainer, I’m passionate about helping athletes of all ages and abilities reach their full potential. I’ve had the privilege of working with everyone from beginners through to professional athletes, focusing on individual development and creating opportunities for players to grow both on and off the court.

I’m committed to creating a positive, supportive environment where players are challenged, encouraged, and inspired to become the best version of themselves. My dedication to junior basketball has been recognised through the SA Sporting Advertiser Award for Commitment to Kids Basketball.

Basketball has been a lifelong passion, and I’m excited for what lies ahead as Rodman Basketball continues to grow and provide opportunities for the next generation of players.

Jade Peel - Vice CEO and Domestic Coordinator

As Vice CEO and Domestic Coordinator at Rodman Basketball Club, I'm proud to be part of a club that is built on passion, community, and creating opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. My role involves supporting the day-to-day operations of our domestic programs, working alongside our dedicated volunteers, coaches, and committee members, and helping ensure the club continues to provide a positive experience for every player and family.

Rodman has been a huge part of my life since the club's inception. While my son no longer plays, he was part of the club from the very beginning, and my connection to Rodman has only grown stronger over the years. I genuinely love everything about this club—the people, the sense of community, the lifelong friendships, and the opportunity to watch players develop both on and off the court.

I'm passionate about helping Rodman continue to grow while maintaining the welcoming, inclusive, and family-oriented culture that makes it such a special place. It's a privilege to contribute to a club that I hope every player and family grows to love as much as I do.

Bec Hughes - Secretary and Treasurer

Hi, my name is Bec and I’m Treasurer & Secretary at Rodman Basketball Club. My role covers everything finance and compliance, as well as helping our programs run smoothly day‑to‑day by supporting both Roddy and Jade.
I’ve been a Rodman parent for three years before stepping up to volunteer on the committee and contributing more directly to the club my kids love so much. With two children playing — one in U18 and one in U14 — I absolutely love watching them thrive and grow through basketball.
Rodman means a lot to me, both professionally and personally. It’s a place where families connect, players develop, and everyone feels welcome. I’m passionate about keeping that inclusive, supportive spirit alive — the one that makes Rodman such a special part of our community.
I’m so excited to be part of this club at a time when it’s growing, evolving, and really finding its direction. Seeing where Rodman is heading — and being able to help shape that journey — is something I’m incredibly proud of. The future feels bright, and I can’t wait to see what we build together.

Mark Bennier - Junior Coordinator and Recruitment Officer

Growing up in country South Australia, I developed my passion for basketball playing with the Crystal Brook Basketball Club. I began my coaching journey five years ago through the MSBL School Mini Ball program at Reynella Primary School, helping introduce young players to the game.

For the past three years, I have been coaching at Rodman Basketball Club, where I currently serve as the Junior Development Coordinator and Player Recruitment Lead. My focus is on creating positive development opportunities for junior players, supporting coaches, and growing participation within the club and the local community.

I currently coach Rodman's Under 14 team in the SDJBL, with the team reaching the Grand Final in each of the past two seasons. This role has allowed me to further develop players both individually and as a team in a competitive environment.

I hold a Basketball South Australia (BSA) Level 1 Coaching Accreditation and am passionate about helping young athletes build their skills, confidence, and love for basketball.

Sarah Harris - Merchandise Coordinator

Hi, I’m Sarah, and I’m the Merchandise Coordinator at Rodman Basketball Club. I look after all things merchandise, helping our players, families, and supporters proudly wear the Rodman colours and feel part of our amazing club community.

I’ve been a Rodman parent for the past three years, watching my son progress through the club from Under 12s to Under 14s, and now preparing to move into Under 16s. Seeing his growth as both a player and a person has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s one of the reasons I wanted to become more involved by volunteering with the club.

Rodman has become a big part of our family's life. It’s more than just basketball—it’s a place where friendships are built, confidence grows, and everyone is welcomed and supported. I love being able to give back to a club that has given so much to our family.

It’s exciting to see how much Rodman continues to grow, and I’m proud to be part of a committee that is passionate about creating the best experience possible for our players and families. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds and being part of the journey as our club continues to thrive.
