About
The NSW Phoenix Youth Indoor Program is a state program directed towards developing the talent of young athletes aiming to represent their state at the Australian Junior Volleyball Championship (AJVC). NSW Phoenix features in multiple age groups: U19, U21, and U23. Every trialling athlete, in each age group, will go through a multi-stage selection process to secure a spot in this state team program.
Selection Phase
The selection phase involves a series of trials held all age groups for all aspiring athletes who wish to represent their state. Athletes will be accessed by NSW Phoenix coaches based on their skill level, game IQ, talent potential and coachability. Successful selected athletes will be then move into the Squad Phase.
Squad Phase
Following selection, the chosen athletes will join the Junior Indoor NSW Phoenix program. This involves athletes working with coaches in centralised training, with the opportunity to develop their skills under the expertise of NSW Phoenix coaches. These sessions are utilised for coaches to select players to form the representative teams that will compete in the AJVC.
Team Phase
After the final selections have been made, during the Squad Phase, selected athletes will finalise their team systems and dynamics in a team focused training environment. NSW Phoenix teams, across all age groups, will travel to AJVC to compete against state and territory representative teams at a national championship. Athletes are provided the opportunity to perform and showcase their talent on the national stage that in turn could lead to future opportunities with national volleyball programs.
