About
What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that can be traced back over 2000 years ago, to the original form that became the root and foundation of the popular sport that we have today. Taekwondo can be broken down into 3 parts ‘Tae’ `meaning foot, ‘kwon’ meaning hand and ‘do’ meaning the art of way; Taekwondo is the art of hand and foot. While Taekwondo has been around for hundreds of years, it has evolved into a popular martial art for kyorugi competitions and poomse competitions. Taekwondo made its first debut in the 1988 Olympics for demonstrations, and at the Sydney 2000 Olympics became a full medal sport.
