About the Narrabri Dolphins Water Polo Club
The Narrabri Dolphins Water Polo Club is a proud, community-based sporting organisation established in 2023 to bring the fast-paced, exciting game of water polo to the Narrabri region. Born from a small group of local families and sports enthusiasts, the Club was founded on the vision of creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport, build friendships, and strengthen community connection through aquatic activity.
In its first seasons, the Dolphins quickly established themselves as an inclusive and welcoming club, offering competitions for juniors, youth, seniors, and mixed teams. Membership has grown steadily to around 70 active players, supported by a strong base of volunteers, coaches, and officials. The Club’s culture is built on teamwork, sportsmanship, and family involvement, ensuring water polo is not only a sport but also a positive and social outlet for the Narrabri community.
A major milestone in the Club’s growth is the introduction of the Flippa Ball program, commencing in the 2025/2026 season. This modified version of water polo is designed specifically for children under 12 and provides a fun, engaging pathway into aquatic sport while building water confidence and swimming ability. With the support of local schools, including Narrabri Public School from Term 1, 2026, the program is set to inspire the next generation of players.
In just a short time, the Dolphins have achieved significant outcomes: junior membership now accounts for more than 40% of total members, over 20 players have represented the region at state and national levels, and the Club has secured sponsorships and community partnerships that help keep participation costs low.
Looking forward, the Narrabri Dolphins Water Polo Club is committed to continuing its growth, expanding pathways for athletes and coaches, and strengthening its role as a contributor to health, wellbeing, and community life in the Narrabri region.
