New Paddlers

Come and try dragon boating!

Welcome!  Wondering if you would like dragon boating?  We welcome new paddlers to "come and try" and have a paddle with our friendly club!  You can paddle for five sessions for free to help you decide whether it's the sport for you.  Paddles are also provided for free.  Bring a water bottle, wear a cap and comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and water, and enclosed shoes (no thongs or sandals) that can get wet. You will get wet!

We currently paddle up to three times a week (numbers permitting).  See the Paddling Times page for the latest paddling times.  The best time to "come and try" is our Saturday morning training sessions. Please contact us by email narooma.bwd@gmail.com or via our Facebook page so we can ensure we have a seat available on the boat for you. Arrive at our boat shed by 8.20am so we can get you a paddle and go through the basics of dragon boat paddling before we begin our warm-up.

So that you are covered by insurance during those free sessions, you will need to fill out a Waiver Form.  A copy of the form is available to download here. The form will ask if you can swim 50 metres in your clothes.  If you can't, you can still paddle with us but we will provide you with a personal flotation device (PFD)/life jacket for your safety. New paddlers will be warmly welcomed!

Ready to join?

You've now completed your five free "come and try" paddles and you're keen to join Narooma Blue Water Dragons, so what next?

All paddlers must be registered with Dragon Boats NSW (DBNSW). A club membership fee is also payable to Narooma Blue Water Dragons (NBWD).

The fees for the 2023-24 season are:

Go to the Registration page and follow the steps to register with both DBNSW and NBWD.  If you have any problems registering, please email narooma.bwd@gmail.com and we will be happy to assist you.

You will also need to complete the club's New Member Joining Form.  A copy of the form is available to download here.  Please return this form to the Secretary once your registration and payments have been completed.
