Dear Maccabi Basketball friends, members, and families,

I would like to start by thanking everyone involved with our club for their participation and contribution to the Maccabi NSW Basketball community. Whether you are playing, managing, training, coaching or just watching our players represent Maccabi, we appreciate what you add to our club and our community.

I would firstly like to congratulate all our 16 teams who participated in weekly competitions across term 1, ranging from the Under 8’s to Under 18’s and all our senior teams. It was great seeing so many players working hard on the court to improve their game, both in training and during games. I would also like to give a special mention to the Under 12 Jets, who had a strong season before unfortunately going down in the grand final, as well as the Under 12 Jazz who went undefeated through their first seven games of the year.

You may also be aware that the club welcomed Shane Heal as the “Coach of Coaches”. He has been working with our coaches to strategically improve all aspects of how we approach training and play during competition.

At Maccabi we are looking forward to term 2 of the 2021 basketball season, where we are keen to welcome back many familiar faces from across the community. Whilst we have already seen high levels of participation for many age groups during term 1, we are confident in increasing registration and team numbers for our term 2 seasons. This is likely to be a result of an increase in interest for our junior girls’ programs, in addition to many players coming across from various schools during their basketball off-season.

Another addition Maccabi is excited to introduce for term 2 is our Maccabi Basketball club hoodies. Our committee has created personalised, 2021 edition hoodies, available for all players, coaches, and fans. Hoodies can be customized with preferred nicknames on the back, which will be perfect for basketball during the winter months. Finally, I would just like to thank everyone involved with the club for their support this year. From the coaches to the players, to our managers, to the fans, our club would not be in the position it is without all your contributions and assistance.
