Have you ever thought about entering a table tennis tournament—but decided tournaments were probably only for the club’s top or most experienced players?

The 2026 Mackay Closed could be the perfect place to give tournament play a try.

The tournament is open to eligible full-fee players, including those participating in:

• Tuesday Morning Senior Fixtures
• Tuesday Evening Senior Fixtures
• Wednesday Junior Fixtures

Eligible full-fee players who do not currently play in one of these fixture competitions may also enter.

There are events for different ages, divisions and playing standards. Most singles events begin with small round-robin groups, so entering does not necessarily mean playing only one match and going home.

For our Wednesday Juniors, there is also a new Tournament Debut Singles event specifically for players who have never played in a tournament before.

You do not need previous tournament experience, and you do not need to consider yourself one of the club’s strongest players. If you enjoy playing table tennis, this is an opportunity to experience tournament play in familiar surroundings with people you already know.

The Mackay Closed will be held on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September.

Nominations close Sunday 6 September.
