You’ve just discovered your new team: the Lakers Dragon Boat Club — one of Brisbane’s most diverse, welcoming and inclusive paddling communities. Whether you’re an experienced paddler or trying the sport for the first time, you’ll find a place with us.
Since 2005, Lakers has been an active part of Brisbane’s vibrant dragon boating scene. The club first took to the waters of Forest Lake and now proudly launches from Riverhills on the Brisbane River.
Dragon boating offers a powerful way to build both physical and mental wellbeing, and Lakers embrace this through teamwork, fitness and plenty of fun. We’re deeply connected to our community, representing the sport each year at the Forest Lake Community Festival and supporting important causes through events like Movember, Pride Day and Mental Health Month.
At Lakers, inclusion isn’t just a value — it’s who we are. We believe our team is strongest when everyone feels respected, supported and free to be themselves. We welcome people of all races, genders, ages, religions, abilities and identities, and we celebrate the unique strengths each person brings.
The best results, the strongest performances and the most meaningful teamwork happen when everyone can show up as their whole selves. In an inclusive team, everyone thrives.
