Each Australian Sailing certified learn to sail program is composed of different levels providing a pathway from beginner to racing. Our courses are delivered by accredited instructors on the magnificent Lake Cootharaba situated on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

Beginner — Teens & Adults

Start Sailing

Perfect for first-time sailors. Learn fundamental sailing theory, boat handling, and safety procedures.

Introduction to sailing terminology and parts of a boat.

Basic knots and sail trim techniques.

Safety procedures and man overboard recovery.

Learn the fundamental skills of sailing a dinghy.

Beginner — Kids

Tackers

Non-competitive learning through games in a supportive environment with structured sessions plans and levels of achievements.

Provide children aged 7 to 12 with a fun, safe and affordable way to get into sailing.

Course Pricing

Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club accepts Queensland Play On! Sports Vouchers for Discover Sailing courses (children aged 7 to 17 years), and recognises the Duke of Edinburgh's International Awards.

12 hour course (three 4 hour sessions)

All equipment provided (Vagabond dinghy, life jacket, sunscreen)

Australian Sailing certification

For ages 12 and up

Teen discount applies

Participants under the age of 18 attract a 50% discount when they register along with one or more parent/guardian.
