Women on Water - Skills and Celebration Day

Kristen Davidson (AS Accredited Coach) and Mystery Speaker
Saturday 7 November 2026 | LCSC - commencing at 9:00am
Calling all girls and women sailors! Join us for a day celebrating the achievements of women in the sport of sailing. The day will include four components as follows:
- Coaching sessions with leading Australian Sailing accredited coach, Kristen Davidson (limited to 8 participants)
- Wind surfing instruction and practice, led by accredited instructor Jane Baker
- Motivational speech by a leading Australian female sailor/administrator including Q&A session
- Drinks and BBQ
This event is partly funded by a grant from Australian Sailing under the Sail Our Way project which has the objective of increasing female participation in the sport of sailing.
Dinghy Coaching (limit of 8 spots)
Bring your own boat (a limited number are available to borrow free of charge, first in/best dressed) and enjoy a day on the water developing your racing skills, tactics and strategy in a friendly, supportive and female only environment. AS accredited coach, Kristen Davidson will help you improve your performance on the race course as follows:
- Learn the golden rules of sailing
- Develop your tactics and strategy
- Refresh and improve your race skills
- Work towards your personal sailing goals
- Gain practical experience with pre-race tactics
Windsurfing Instruction and Practice (unlimited spots)
Whether your a novice or have years of experience, come along with your board (or borrow one from the club)* and enjoy a day of windsurfing fun and exhilaration. AS accredited instructors, Jane Baker and Erica Hamp, and other experienced windsurfers will be on hand to provide tips and help you improve your board riding skills. A demonstration of foiling (board and kite foiling) is also planned (weather dependant).
Guest Speaker
Whether you've spent the day on the water or simply want to join us for the after party, relax with a drink and hear from one of Australia's leading women sailors and sports administrator. Commences at 4:00pm
BBQ
Finish the day in the relaxed atmosphere of the Black Flag bar for drinks and a BBQ dinner.
Saturday: Meet at the LCSC Clubhouse at 9:00am.
Make a weekend of it!
Come down on Friday and join LCSC members and locals for Margarita Night at the Black Flag Bar from 5:00pm.
Stay overnight at Boreen Point Campground or choose from other local accommodation, then be ready for a great day on the water Saturday.
All girls and women are welcome – bring your boat or sailboard and come along for a fantastic day of learning, sailing and fun!
