LAKE COOTHARABA SAILING CLUB Inc
JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
INTRODUCTION
The program has been designed around the stated needs of a group of talented youngsters who attended an initial test event on Lake Cootharaba on 9 November 2025. The outcome of the initial term of coaching was very pleasing with every member of the group attending the Open Skiff Nationals at Manly NSW and performing well above their original expectations.
Given the status of Lake Cootharaba SC as one of the few clubs on the Sunshine Coast with the location and resources to be able to offer such a program, it is intended that this program will develop into a permanent feature of our club’s efforts to broaden the reach of sailing in our community and particularly to attract and develop young people in to our sport.
It should be noted that this is not an initiative to develop an exclusive squad of elite junior sailors. The program’s primary objectives are:
o To assist youngsters to reach their individual potential as a competitive sailors; and
o To help them identify the pathways open to them in sailing and establish their own personal goals in the sport.
