Coaches

Cathy Matthews has competed and coached at the club for many years. She offers coaching for sprints, hurdles and jumps and is qualified in Level 3 Advance Jumps, Middle and Long Distance, Sprints, Hurdles, Relays and Throws. Cathy also holds the IAAF Kids Athletics accreditation. Cathy offers training at St. Bernard's College in Essendon.

Riley Caines coaches juniors and seniors as part of his Coach Cainzey squad. Riley is offering coaching for senior athletes through Coach Cainzey, specialising in sprints 100m - 400m and hurdles at the Keilor Park Athletics Track. He integrates a strength and conditoning program into his training for athletes, using the club's gym at the Keilor Track. Riley holds a Level 2 club coach accreditation and is pursuing a Level 3 performance development coach accreditation. Coaching is additional to KSB membership.

Mark Carey holds a Level 4 Coach Athletics Australia accreditation, Level 3 IAAF Coach Relays and Hurdles and Level 3 IAAF Coach Middle, long distance and Steeple accreditation. Mark is the head coach of the Toe the line Athletics Squad an athletics development and high performance Squad. The Squad is available for athletes of all ages we specialize in coaching Sprints, Hurdles, Middle, long distance and the Steeplechase. He also prepares athletes from other sports in their pre-season and competition phase. Some examples are AFL footballers Soccer, netball players and AFL umpires. The other area of strong importance is preparing young Track and cross country Athletes for their school competitions. The purpose of my coaching is helping the athlete to learn with long term planning and encouragement.

Patrick Matthews coaches in middle and long distance running. Patrick has been working with local schools in addition to the coaching athletes within our club. Patrick holds a Level 1 Community athletics coaching qualification. Coaches mainly at St. Bernard's College in Essendon.

Maria Abfalter has worked as a coach in schools for a number of years and assists with coaching when available at St. Bernard's College in Essendon. Maria holds a Level 3 in advanced jumps, throws, middle and long distance, sprints, hurdles, relays. She also hold the IAAF Kids Athletics qualification. 

Rebecca Bain has worked as a coach with Little Athletics as well as numerous school athletics programs. Rebecca holds a Level 1 community athletics coaching qualification.
