What is a non-sanctioned badminton event?
A non-sanctioned badminton event is a community or independently organised tournament that is not officially conducted under the sanctioning or ranking system of state or national badminton governing bodies.
Is this event officially affiliated with Badminton Victoria or Badminton Australia?
No. This event is independently organised as a community sporting event and is not part of official ranking or sanctioned tournament pathways unless otherwise specified.
Can players of all skill levels participate?
Yes. The event is designed to encourage participation from players of different skill levels, including recreational, intermediate, and competitive players.
Will players receive ranking points?
No. As a non-sanctioned event, players will not receive official state or national ranking points.
Is the event professionally organised?
Yes. The event will follow structured scheduling, match coordination, venue management, and fair play guidelines to ensure a positive participant experience.
Are referees or umpires provided?
Match supervision and event coordinators may be provided depending on the event format. Some matches may use self-scoring or volunteer-based officiating.
Is insurance coverage provided?
Participants are encouraged to have their own personal sports or health insurance where appropriate. Event organisers may have public liability coverage for venue and event operations. Feather Touch Sports Club is affiliated with Badminton Victoria, and participants are encouraged to refer to Badminton Victoria for further information regarding affiliated insurance coverage and policies.
What type of shuttles will be used?
Feather shuttles will be used for the tournament. Aeroplane brand is our official shuttle used in the tournament which is BWF approved.
Can interstate or international players participate?
Yes, subject to event rules, registration availability, and eligibility requirements.
Is the event open to juniors?
Yes, if junior categories are included in the tournament format. Parent or guardian consent may be required for underage participants.
What is the refund policy?
All registrations are final. Once payment has been successfully completed, registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the event is cancelled by the organisers. Participants are encouraged to ensure their availability before completing registration.
Will there be prizes or trophies?
Yes. Depending on sponsorship and event structure, winners receive cash price and and runners-up may receive certificates.
How are match schedules managed?
Schedules are generally released before the event date and may be adjusted depending on player attendance and operational requirements.
What is the game format?
Matches will be conducted in a 30-point single-elimination knockout format. Players or teams progressing through each round will advance to the next stage until the finals. Additional match rules and scheduling details will be communicated prior to the tournament.
What happens if a player withdraws?
Withdrawal policies, refund conditions, and replacement rules will be outlined in the registration terms and conditions.
Are spectators allowed?
Yes. Family members, supporters, and community spectators are generally welcome, subject to venue capacity and event guidelines.
Can businesses or sponsors participate?
Yes. Sponsorship, stall, and partnership opportunities may be available for businesses and community organisations.
Why organise a non-sanctioned event?
Non-sanctioned events help:

What should players bring to the tournament?
Players are encouraged to bring:
- appropriate badminton attire,
- non-marking court shoes,
- racquets,
- water bottles,
- towels,
- and any personal playing accessories required during matches.
Are food and refreshments available?
Food and refreshments may be available at the venue depending on event arrangements and venue facilities.
Will first aid support be available?
The safety and wellbeing of all participants remain our highest priority. Certified First Aid support will be available onsite during the tournament. Participants are responsible for managing their own personal medical requirements and medications.
How will winners be decided?
Winners will be determined based on the official match format, scoring system, and event rules communicated before the tournament.
Can participants take photographs or videos?
Event organisers may capture photographs and videos for promotional and community purposes. Participants may also take personal photos unless restricted by venue or event guidelines.
What if matches are delayed?
While organisers aim to follow the published schedule, match timings may vary due to player attendance, match duration, or operational requirements.
How can participants register?
Registration details, payment instructions, and event updates will be communicated through the official event registration platform or organising team. Also you can find the bank details from the registration form.
More Info regarding Doubles Open Category?
As this is a Open Doubles event, each team must consist of two fixed players for the entire tournament.
Unfortunately, it's not possible for three players to register as one team or rotate partners during the event. You'll need to nominate one partner for your entry.
It means, Men v Men team may play with Female v Female or Male v Female teams
