Breast Cancer Paddlers (BCP) – EOI Waiver & Participant Declaration

By submitting this Expression of Interest, I acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. Paddler Fitness & Racing Capability

I confirm that I am an active breast cancer paddler who regularly participates in dragon boat training and have the fitness, strength and endurance required to compete in both 200m and 500m races in a 10's crew (small boat).

I understand that AusChamps is a competitive national championship and that paddlers are expected to be physically prepared for the demands of racing.

2. Health & Safety

I acknowledge that dragon boat racing is a physically demanding activity involving inherent risks, including injury, illness and accidents.

I confirm that I am medically fit to participate and will take responsibility for seeking appropriate medical advice where necessary. I agree to advise DAA of any relevant health or physical limitations that may affect my ability to participate safely.

3. Crew Selection & Commitment

I understand that submitting an EOI does not guarantee selection in a DAA BCP crew.

Crew selection will be determined by DAA based on eligibility, paddler fitness, experience, crew balance and the number of available positions.

If selected, I agree to follow the directions of the appointed coach, team manager and race officials, and to support a positive and respectful team environment.

4. Financial Responsibility

I acknowledge that I am responsible for my own travel, accommodation, registration fees and any other expenses associated with participating in AusChamps.

I understand that DAA is not responsible for personal expenses incurred if I am not selected, withdraw or am unable to participate.

5. Risk Acknowledgement

I voluntarily express my interest in participating, understanding the physical demands and inherent risks associated with dragon boat training and racing.

I agree to comply with all applicable safety requirements, event regulations and reasonable instructions issued by DAA representatives and event officials.

6. Participant Declaration

By submitting this EOI, I confirm that:

The information I have provided is true and accurate.
I am regularly paddling and capable of competing in both 200m and 500m races.
I understand the requirements and expectations of competitive 10's racing.
I acknowledge that crew selection is not guaranteed.
I accept responsibility for my personal fitness, preparation and associated costs.
I agree to abide by DAA's team expectations and applicable event rules.
