Cath began dragon boating in 2014 and quickly learned how powerful great coaching can be for club culture and performance. After a shoulder injury nudged her toward coaching, she went on to lead successful crews at local, state, national and international levels.

A Level 2 Coach, Level 5 Sweep, drummer, paddler and qualified Fitness Leader, Cath has competed in Auroras campaigns—sweeping for Australia in Thailand and coaching the successful Senior Bs during the latest campaign in Germany. Cath has coached crews to become Australian Champions and winning medals at Club Crew World Championships.

Cath’s passion is helping every paddler—from their very first session to those aiming for elite honours—discover their potential through challenge, growth and belief. Cath knows what to do to get individuals and crews to achieve their best and is a big believer in continually evolving as a coach.

Celebrating nearly 20 years in dragon boating, Nicky has been with Diamond Phoenix since the club’s earliest seasons. A paddler and Level 4 sweep, she has raced in AusChamps, interstate regattas and international events, including unforgettable campaigns in Hong Kong and the ACT-hosted 2019 AusChamps.

Now in her third year of coaching, Nicky is driven to support women at every stage—whether they join for fitness, community, or to chase national and international success. She is committed to growing the club, nurturing confidence and helping paddlers realise what they’re truly capable of.

With four years of coaching experience, Kay is passionate about helping women build strength, fitness and courage through dragon boating. She encourages new paddlers to find confidence in the sport and supports experienced athletes striving for national and international goals.

Renae started dragon boating in 2018. Her achievements include ACT representation (2021, 2024), completing a Cert I in Coaching, five gold medals at the 2024 AusChamps, two silvers at Club Crew Worlds in Italy, and an exceptional 2025 performance with the Auroras Senior C team in Germany.

While her passion for paddling runs deep, Renae loves coaching and brings enthusiasm, clarity and humour to every session. Her coaching goals are to inspire paddlers of all levels, strengthen technique across the squad and help build a united, high-performing DP community.

Since beginning in 2020, Raija has competed at State, National and World Championship levels, including representing Australia with the Auroras. Her experience across multiple boat roles—paddler, sweep and drummer—gives her a broad understanding of team needs and high-performance expectations.

After competing at Worlds, Raija completed her coaching accreditation to give back to a sport that transformed her life. She now aims to help paddlers, especially new and developing athletes, realise they are capable of far more than they imagine.

Jacky joined Diamond Phoenix in 2007 and was hooked from her very first paddle. Since then, she has raced with multiple ACT clubs, competed internationally in China, and contributed as a Level 3 Regatta Official and part of the electronic timing team.

Jacky values the support and strength of a women’s team and believes dragon boating builds both fitness and mental resilience. Her coaching approach is grounded in striving for excellence, supporting athletes along their journey, and keeping joy at the centre of training.

She encourages paddlers of all abilities—from newcomers to those pursuing elite dreams—to keep pushing toward their personal and team goals.
