Derwent Foundation

The Derwent Hockey Club is a family hockey club established in 1935. We have over 20 teams, with our top men's and women's sides competing in the Tasmanian Premier League. The Derwent Foundation enables benefactors to receive tax deductions for their donations. Funds from donations go towards the following projects:

  1. Junior Development Pathways and high-performance programs for senior players
  2. Purchasing and Upgrading sports equipment
  3. Participation Programs
  4. Coaching and support staff costs

Through the club's fundraising partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, donations over $2 are tax deductible. So please show your support by donating today!

Gift in wills

A bequest provides significant value to both the benefactor and the Derwent Hockey Club. Your gift will provide a lasting legacy for the club. Some benefactors find that they can make a significant bequest in a will that they might not have been able to make in their own lifetime. Benefactors will receive recognition and appreciation from the club at the time of making your bequest. Gifts in wills are not tax-deductible.

If interested in gifting a bequest, suggestions for wording are below:

For Derwent Hockey in general (to the Derwent Foundation):

‘I give ([insert dollar amount / % of my residuary estate] to The Derwent Hockey Club of 1 Bell Street, New Town, Tasmania ABN 26 845 827 117 ('the club’) to support in perpetuity (insert either sport general, sport scholarships or sport capital works or a combination) the club ('the stated purpose'). If at any time the Club determines that it is impossible or impracticable to carry out the stated purpose then the Club may apply the income of the bequest for the purpose or purposes of either a specific sport or sports, or sport generally, at the Club, as determined by the Club.'

For a specific team or Derwent area:

‘I give ([insert dollar amount / % of my residuary estate] to The Derwent Hockey Club of 1 Bell Street, New Town, Tasmania ABN 26 845 827 117 ('the club’) to support in perpetuity the area of (insert area) at the Club ('the stated purpose'). If at any time the Club determines that it is impossible or impracticable to carry out the stated purpose then the Club may apply the income of the bequest for the purpose or purposes of either a specific sport or sports, or sport generally, at the Club, as determined by the Club.’

*Derwent Hockey Club recommends individuals seek legal advice in regards to leaving gifts in wills.
