Darling Downs Sailing Club

About

We are a small sailing club run by volunteers at Loveday Cover, Cooby Dam. We're 180kms from the coast and sail at 457 meters above sea leve. The DDSC is a family orientation sporting club comprised of young and old, experienced and not the not so experienced sailors.

Sailing occurs fortnightly on alternate Sundays from 9am until the early afternoon. Whilever there is water in the dam, the club operates with a variety of smaller boats for use by beginners. Space is available on the premises for the storage of boats at the owner's risk for an annual fee of $100.

This history has a proud history linked to the early 1970s through the lobbying of foundation members such as Dr Sandy Milne, Brian Gale, Iam Templeman, Tony Loveday and John Bestmann. in the 1980s the club became an Incorporated Association with a very large and active membership. However, the droughts of 2005-2011 were very hard on the club as sailing had to cease due to limited water supply.

Today the club is over 50 years old and is thriving once more with dedicated based of old hands and the enthusiasism of new people who have a passion for the sport. If you would like to know more, please come out to Loveday Cove and join us for a sail.
