Member Protection

MEMBER PROTECTION

Ensuring all members of the Central Coast Water Polo (CCWP) community feel safe, respected and included is extremely important to us.

Member protection refers to the practices and policies in place to protect our members from discrimination, harassment, abuse and other inappropriate behaviour. The safeguarding of children and young people is also of the utmost importance to CCWP.

CCWP, together with our governing body Water Polo NSW (WPNSW) and Water Polo Australia (WPA), is committed to upholding the National Integrity Framework (NIF) and the policies established for the protection and integrity of participants in sport.

These policies include:

  • Improper Use of Drugs and Medicine Policy
  • Australian National Anti-Doping Policy
  • Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy
  • Child Safeguarding Policy
  • Code of Conduct
  • Personal Grievances Policy
  • National Sanctioning Policy

The relevant policies and information can be found through the Water Polo NSW Policy Hub and Water Polo Australia Integrity.

Member Protection Information Officer

An important part of member protection is having a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) who can provide information and guidance to members about complaints procedures and available support.

The CCWP Member Protection Information Officer is Kellie Gillian.

Kellie can be contacted directly via ccwp.mpio@gmail.com

The MPIO is the first point of contact for members who have questions, concerns or complaints relating to harassment, abuse, discrimination or other inappropriate behaviour. The MPIO can also provide information and support to members who have been sanctioned for offences committed within the association, in accordance with the relevant national policies.

All correspondence with the MPIO will be treated confidentially.

How to Raise a Concern

Everyone involved in water polo — including athletes, coaches, officials, parents, support personnel, administrators, volunteers and spectators — has a role to play in protecting the integrity of our sport.

If you see or hear something that doesn't seem right, say something.

Submit a formal concern here

Complaints or concerns received by CCWP will be assessed and, where appropriate, managed by CCWP or escalated to Water Polo NSW, Water Polo Australia, Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) or another appropriate external agency. Where a matter falls outside the relevant policies or jurisdiction, the person raising the concern may be provided with information about other appropriate pathways.

CCWP is committed to creating a safe and positive environment both in and out of the pool. We have a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, bullying, harassment and inappropriate behaviour towards officials, coaches, team officials, players, volunteers or spectators.

We expect everyone involved in our competitions and clubs to show respect, play fairly, enjoy the game and lead by example.
