Breakers Water Polo 2026/27 Competition Calendar & Expression of Interest Now Open

As we prepare for another exciting water polo season, Breakers Water Polo is pleased to release an overview of the major competitions available throughout the 2026/27 season.

Whether you're new to the sport or an experienced player looking to take the next step, there are fantastic opportunities available at both club and regional representative level.

It is important to understand that some events are entered as Breakers Water Polo Club teams, while others are entered as Sunshine Coast Water Polo (SCWP) regional representative teams.

Below is everything you need to know.


Breakers Water Polo Club Competitions

Junior Country Championships (JCC)

4–6 December 2026 | Rockhampton

The Junior Country Championships is one of Queensland's premier junior club tournaments and is a fantastic event for players of all experience levels.

Hosted in Rockhampton, the competition will be based at the 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre, with additional venues to be confirmed once team entries have been finalised.

Players compete for Breakers Water Polo, making this an excellent first interstate tournament for athletes who are new to club water polo.

Likely age groups

  • U12 Mixed, OR U12 Boys & U12 Girls, U14 Boys, U14 Girls, U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U18 Girls

Estimated Cost

Player costs are expected to be $150–$200, which includes:

  • WPQ team entry fees

  • Coaching costs

Accommodation and travel are not included.

Family discounts will be considered where possible.

Queensland State Titles

16–24 January 2027 | Sunshine Coast

Queensland State Titles is the largest club competition in Queensland and will again be hosted across several Sunshine Coast venues, including:

  • Kawana Aquatic Centre

  • Sunshine Coast Grammar

  • Nambour

  • UniSC

  • SAAC

Competition Schedule

Week 1 (16–19 January)

  • U14

  • U18

  • Opens

Week 2 (21–24 January)

  • U12

  • U16

Players represent Breakers Water Polo throughout the tournament.

Sunshine Coast Water Polo (SCWP) Junior Representative Competitions

The following events are regional representative competitions.

Players are selected to represent Sunshine Coast Water Polo, rather than Breakers Water Polo.

Brisbane Metro Junior Competition (BMJC)

WPQ has not yet released the 2026/27 competition dates.

The competition is traditionally played on Saturdays throughout Terms 4 and 1 at various Brisbane pools.

Likely age groups include:

  • U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18


Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYC)

30 March – 9 April 2027 | Brisbane

Australia's premier junior water polo championship returns to Brisbane in 2027.

Competition will run over two weeks, with age groups split across:

  • U18 & U14

  • U16 & U12

Final scheduling for each division is still to be confirmed by Water Polo Australia.

Sunshine Coast Water Polo Senior Representative Competitions

Queensland Premier League (QPL) & QPL Reserves

QPL and QPL Reserves are played as home-and-away competitions across approximately ten weeks.

While final dates have not yet been released, the season traditionally begins in late August or September.

Players compete as Sunshine Coast Water Polo representative teams.


Queensland Country Championships (QCC)

Dates and venue are yet to be confirmed by WPQ.

The tournament is generally held on the third weekend of February, with Bundaberg currently being discussed as the likely host city.

Breakers Senior Club Competitions

Fluidra Australia Cup

16–20 December 2026 | Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra

The Fluidra Australia Cup is one of Australia's highest-quality club competitions and provides an important pathway toward Australian Water Polo League competition.

Teams from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region regularly compete, creating an outstanding development opportunity for emerging athletes.

Players will represent Breakers Water Polo.

Estimated Cost

Approximately $650–$900 per player, depending on sponsorship and fundraising.

This includes:

  • AIS accommodation

  • Meals

  • Tournament costs

Queensland State Titles (Open Division)

16–19 January 2027 | Sunshine Coast

Our Open Men's and Women's teams will also compete at the Queensland State Titles representing Breakers Water Polo.
