Track and Venue Rules

To ensure an efficient program, the following basic rules must be adhered to at all times for your safety and the safety of fellow members and officials.

  • Please always walk around the track to access the far side of the field for the start of track events or field events in the outfield.  Do not walk through the centre of the infield under any circumstances.  This is a safety issue with javelins, discuses and shot puts being thrown.  If you try to cross the infield you will be asked to go back and walk around.
  • Similarly, there should be noone standing on the inside of the track unless they are an official or track helper.  Please stand on the other side of the fence if you are wathcing your child.  Only officials, age group managers or parent helpers are to be on the track or at the field events.  We do this to ensure everyone's safety and so that the track and field events do not become overcrowded.
  • The timing gates are very sensitive and are easily affected when too many people are standing around them.  There should be noone standing around the gates unless you are an official, age group manager or track helper.  Once again, if you are watching your child please stand on the other side of the fence.  If you are on the track side of the fence you will be asked to move.
  • All participants will move through their events with their age group managers and parent helpers.  All other parents must take their children to the marshalling areas and then move back to the grandstand or the outside of the fence where your child's field event is located.

We want everyone to have a fun and safe experience during our program and that is only possible if everyone follows these simple rules.  We appreciate your understanding and compliance.
