About

The Adelaide University Sailing Club is the oldest university sailing club in Australia, the Club was established in 1959 and hosted its first intervarsity competition in 1960.

A stronghold of Australian university sailing, the Club sails with the fleet of the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron (RSAYS) at Outer Harbor with access for members to both dinghies and keelboats.

The club has a long tradition of producing first-class yachtsmen and yachtswomen, with many present and former members having competed in prestigious and challenging ocean races including the Sydney to Hobart, Teakle Classic and the Three Peaks Yacht Race.

However, while the club still facilitates its members to compete in numerous state, national, and international races/regattas, the Club’s aim is to foster and promote the sport of sailing. The Club specifically supports novices and intermediate sailors to learn and build their sailing abilities and can facilitate professional training and certification through the CYCSA.

The Club is based at the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA) at Outer Harbor and participates in regular, year-round yacht races in Adelaide. The Club also represents the University yearly at UniGames, Australia’s national intervarsity sporting competition.

In addition to the Club’s racing calendar, AUSC organises many training days, cruises, lunches, and pub-crawls. The Club also participates in several social events through the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron such as the Commodore's Dinner.
