The Adelaide University Motorsport Team (AUMT) is a fully student-run team founded in 2001 that brings together students with an interest in motorsport, engineering, and hands-on learning. Today, AUMT is one of the University’s largest and most active student projects.
The team designs, builds, and competes with a Formula SAE electric race car, giving members the opportunity to apply what they learn at university to a real-world engineering project. Students work across a wide range of areas including design, manufacturing, electronics, software, data, project management, marketing, and operations.
AUMT is open to students from all year levels and disciplines — no prior experience is required. Members gain practical skills, industry exposure, and valuable teamwork experience in a supportive environment, while also taking part in events, testing days, and the at the end of the year competition.
More than just a technical team, AUMT is a community. It’s a place to learn, get involved, make friends, and be part of something bigger — whether you’re looking to develop engineering skills, explore motorsport, or simply get hands-on career-applicable experience outside the classroom.
