Hi Susette,

Thanks for your reply.

Appreciate the potential misunderstanding that this process has caused, I will try and clarify this situation as best as possible to allow for this process to work optimally.

The way that discount codes work is that they are either available to the public or to members only.

If the discount code is for members only, you can apply a variety of restrictions ontop of this such as age, gender, payment class and so on.

Therefore for the system to be able to validate whether the user registering meets the criteria for the discount code, they need to login so these details can be checked.

For example, your discount code TPRSC22 is set to members of your account only and has the restriction to be for only members with the Junior Member payment class.

Therefore a member trying to register for your event will need to be logged in so the system knows who they are and can check their payment status to confirm they are an active member of your account and have the Junior Member payment class.

So to answer your statement 'What I have been trying to describe and show you is that there is no ability to APPLY a discount to a course for an eligible financial member without receiving an error message'.

  1. Yes we know there is an error
  2. The error is happening because the member is not logged in
  3. When they log in the discount code will work

This has always been the case for discount codes. In regards to registering for a member-only event you have two options:

  1. Make an event only available to members of your club only
  2. Make an event available to any member of Australian Sailing

Your event in question is set to be available for all Australian Sailing members. In an event like this, an option to just enter an ID, Last name and DOB appear as per the screenshot below.

This is not "logging in" to the account, it is merely for the platform to check details and to see whether the member is a part of Australian Sailing as a whole.

The way for the discount code to apply, the paid Junior member of the Princess Royal Sailing Club would need to login directly to the public website through the login button in the top right of your public website:

Once the paid Junior member has logged into the account, they will be able to complete registration for the event and apply the discount code as below:

I created a test member within your account and listed it as paid under the Junior member payment class, I then logged into the public website and as you can see above the discount code was able to be applied for the Tackers 1 - Having Fun event, there is no button to click to apply the platform will read this discount code and determine whether it is able to be applied or not if the member specific all requirements.

There haven't been any changes made to this process, the only way the platform will be able to read whether the individual fulfils all of the discount code restrictions would be by logging into the public website as listed above.

If you would like to avoid members having to log in to use the discount code, we would recommend making the discount code available to the public so no login is required. Since the event is already restricted to AS members only, there is no need to also make the discount code for members only.

I hope I have been able to clarify this for you, please let us know if you have any further questions or queries on this process.

Kind Regards,

Christopher
