Sailing

Zeekoe Vlei has produced quite a number of world class yachtsmen, many of whom started out sailing Optimists, and have represented South Africa in international regattas; like Optimist Worlds, Youth Worlds & Olympics.
Come and be a part of this wonderful sailing family – the benefits are endless!

SUNDAY SAILING & RACING
This is when the club comes alive with sailing activities. It is during the summer season that members sail regular Sunday races. Race courses are set out on the vlei depending on the wind direction.
The TUCK SHOP is open on Sundays during the sailing season to enjoy hot coffee, tea, muffins, cake, toasted sandwiches and other yummy snacks. Fantastic Sunday lunches, served by Rochelle’s Kitchen, are on sale from the GALLEY and can be enjoyed indoors, or as a picnic on the lawns. The swimming pool, pool table, fuse-ball & table tennis are available for all members to enjoy.

ZEEKOEVLEI SAILING CENTRE
The centre, with funds raised through Rotary, Lotto & private donors teach children from local disadvantaged communities to sail. The Centre has a variety of schools sailing every day of the week. Those children that show potential and commitment are invited to sail with the ZVSC team which trains over the weekends – here they learn to race and can then participate in regattas.
