Fee Policy

FEE POLICY – SENIOR PLAYERS

Why do we need a policy?

A Fees Policy is required to clearly communicate to members the expectations for playing fees. It will also assist the committee in enforcing the policy consistently to all members.

Fee Schedule

The Senior Committee shall determine all playing fees to be levied by no later than the 31st of January of each year. The amount shall be set at the January Senior Committee meeting and the determination communicated to the members in the Fee Schedule on the Club website.

Early Bird Payment

All players playing in Senior teams who pay their playing fees in full prior to Round 1 of the regular season shall be entitled to $30 (6 x $5 vouchers) worth of food & beverage vouchers at the club. Vouchers must be used in the calendar year that they are received, and change will not be given for amounts not used in full.

Deadline for Payment

Deadlines for payment will be the end of the third round of the main grade that the player plays in. Where circumstances are not favourable to the player, they are to reach out to the Treasurer to arrange a payment plan.

At present, the Club has determined 3 different payment plan types, which the Treasurer will discuss with players that require payment plans. All payment plans entered into must be paid off by the second last round of the main grade that the player plays in.

The Club recognises that some players and families may experience financial hardship and is committed to ensuring there is a place for all members to remain playing hockey and be part of the club. As such, plans outside of the 3 options may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Requests for plans outside of the 3 options must be submitted to the Treasurer, who will assess the request and seek sign off from the President.

Circumstances where one of these two criteria cannot be met, players will be deemed unfinancial and ineligible to play. Ramifications of teams playing unfinancial or ineligible players will be in line with Hockey WA by laws.

Life members

Life Membership is bestowed on individuals in recognition of their significant contribution to the club over many years. Life members shall have playing fees waived for life.

Australian/AIS Players

Current Australian and AIS Players are not required to pay fees.

Senior Coaches – Premier Grades

Senior coaches who coach Premier grades for the full season and are also players, shall receive a 100% discount off their fees.

Coaching Discount – all grades except Premier

A playing senior who is the sole coach of a Senior Grade (not Premier) or Junior team (excluding Minkey/Grads) shall receive a 50% discount off their fees. If the coaching role is shared, the discount shall be split evenly between the coaches.

A non-playing coach (i.e., parent of a junior, husband or wife of a senior player) shall receive a 50% discount on the fees of the immediate family member that they are coaching. In the event that an immediate family member is not in the team the non-playing coach is coaching, the 50% discount will be applied to an immediate family member playing in the same competition of the team being coached (i.e., parent coaching a junior team cannot have the fee discount applied to an immediate family member who is a senior player). If the coaching role is shared, the discount will be split across one immediate family member per coach.

There is no discount for coaching a Minkey or Grads team.

Goalkeepers (All grades)

The club recognises that goalkeeping equipment is expensive. Therefore, any goalkeepers supplying their own full set of goalkeeping equipment shall qualify for a 50% discount on their playing fees. Goalkeepers not supplying their own equipment will be required to pay full fees.

Fill In Players

The Club recognises some players play part-time due to work or other commitments. Members also recognise there are a number of flat charges to the club, such as insurances.

The Club also recognises that, throughout the season, teams may need to source fill in players from Reds Hockey Club teams in the same or another league.

This section of the fees policy shall cover both of these types of fill in players, as well as when a player is no longer considered part time or a fill in.

The fill in fees for Senior Grades are:

  • Fill In Players (not playing in another team):

All fill in players who are not playing in another Reds team and are, therefore, not registered to Reds Hockey Club MUST be registered to the Club before their first game.

Per game fees for these players are as follows:

  • Senior, Masters, & Metro players:
    • Game 1: Hockey Australia registration only
    • Games 2-12: $35 per game
    • Game 13 onwards: After 12 games at Reds, a player is no longer considered a fill in and full fees will be due, with any fill in fees already paid being deducted from the amount due. If the games are split across multiple leagues, the fee amount due will be for the league where the player has played the most games. Where the games are split evenly across multiple leagues, fees owing will be for the higher cost league or at the Treasurer’s discretion.
  • Students playing in Senior competitions:
    • Game 1: Hockey Australia registration only
    • Games 2-12: $25 per game
    • Game 13 onwards: After 12 games, a player is no longer considered a fill in and full student fees will be due. Any fill in fees already paid will be deducted from the amount due.

  • Fill In Player is playing for a Reds team in another league:

This includes the following scenarios:

  • Senior players (including Premier League) filling in for Masters, and vice versa.
  • Senior players filling in for Metropolitan League, and vice versa.
  • Metropolitan League players filling in for Masters, and vice versa.
  • Juniors filling for Seniors (including Premier League)

Full fees are due for the primary team that the player is playing in.

Per game fees for these players are as follows:

  • Senior, Masters, & Metro players:
    • Games 1-5: No extra fees payable
    • Games 6-12: $20 per game
    • Game 13 onwards: After 12 games, a player is no longer considered a fill in and extra fees for the relevant competition will be due. Any fill in fees already paid will be deducted from the amount due.
  • Juniors filling in for Seniors:
    • Games 1-7: No extra fees payable
    • Game 8 onwards: Senior Student fees must be paid by any Junior who plays 8 or more Senior games. Any Junior fees already paid will be deducted from amount owing.

  • Fill In Player is in the same league

There is no extra fee requirement for players filling in for the teams one grade directly above and one grade directly below the player’s primary team.

Fees and Finals

Any player who qualifies for finals must have paid their relevant fees in full before they will be eligible to play finals with the team they have qualified for. This includes full season fees and any fill in fees owing. Any player who hasn’t paid their relevant fees before finals will be considered ineligible for finals and, if a team plays an ineligible player during finals, ramifications being in line with Hockey WA by-laws.

Refunds

Any refunds shall be at the discretion of the Treasurer and President. Requests for refunds must be submitted to the Treasurer and will only be considered in the event the player has paid their fees in full and is not able to play the full season owing to serious illness, injury, or some other genuine unforeseen event.
