2026 AUSTRALIAN Country Championships
The 2026 Australian Country Championships will be hosted by the City of Ballarat (VIC), presented by Water Polo Queensland and is scheduled to take place from 6 – 9 May 2026.
Competition Timeline:
- Team Nominations Open - Friday February 20 9AM AEST
- Team Nominations Close - Sunday March 22 11:59PM AEST
- State Referees Nominated - Sunday March 22 11:59PM AEST
- Individual Draft Opens - Friday March 6 9AM AEST
- Team Access Open on RevSport - Monday March 9 9AM AEST
- Individual Draft Closes - Sunday March 22 11:59PM AEST
- Draft Conducted & Athletes Notified - Monday March 23 through to Friday March 27
- Final Team Lists Due on RevSport - Monday March 30 9AM AEST
- States Invoiced - Week of Monday March 30
- Draft Draw Released via Email - Friday April 10
- Feedback from Draft Draw - Monday April 20 9AM AEST
- Final Draw Released - Friday April 24
- Technical Meeting via Microsoft Teams - Wednesday April 29 7:30PM AEST
Team Composition:
- Teams may bring a maximum of 14 athletes
- If a team names 14 athletes for any given fixture, then the team must have 2 goalkeepers and 12 field players
- A team with 1 goalkeeper is only permitted to have a maximum of 13 athletes’ total
- If teams only have 1 goalkeeper, then cap 13 may be used as a field player cap
- Goalkeepers must wear red caps 1 and 13
- Goalkeepers are not eligible to play as both a goalkeeper and a field player in a given fixture
Import Rule:
- An inter-state/metropolitan Player who is a person who:
- Is not domiciled in a regional location within the state they reside
- Has made themselves available at their respective state country championships or within their state local A grade competition (or equivalent) with which the player is domiciled.
- Is continually contributing to and participating with the club/association with which they are competing with.
- An Import Player is not a Regional Player.
