Frequently Asked Questions

 

I am a returning player/parent from 2023, how do I register?

  • Step 1: Click on the “Registration” tab and click the “Returning Member” button.
  • Step 2: Enter the child’s surname and DOB (the system will complete the ID for you on the next page)
  • Step 3: Select a relevant player category from the dropdown selection and click “renew membership”
  • Step 4: Child’s information from 2023 will be auto-completed in the system….check all information is up to date and ensure all required and additional fields are completed.
  • Step 5: Complete payment details, which this year includes both the Hockey NSW fee and the West Junior Club fee.
  • Step 5: If you want to use on Active Kids Voucher Number please use the discount code AKV50.

 

I am new to hockey – what basic information do I need to know about hockey in Newcastle?

  • Firstly, welcome to West Junior Hockey Club and thank you for considering playing the sport we love!
  • Our club caters for boys (West Junior Boys) and girls (Central West Girls) of all levels of ability and experience, from 5yo to 18yo.
  • The hockey season goes from March to September, with all training (late Feb) and games (late March) held at the same location (Newcastle International Hockey Centre, next to McDonald Jones stadium)…..making hockey an easy sport for parents to fit into busy lives.

 

I am new to hockey – what are the costs I need to consider?

  • To play hockey you will need a uniform, stick, shinguards and mouthguard.
  • Club uniform is provided for new players and we have a club stock of sticks for new players to borrow for a season to limit the cost of trying our sport for the first time.
  • The club also has a stock of new shinguards.
  • Mouthguards can be bought from Just Hockey, located on the premises at the Hockey Centre. Or some Health Insurances include a free mouthguard in their annual dental.


I am new to hockey – ok I’m keen, how do I register my child?

  • Step 1: Click the link “Registration” tab and click the “Register” button.
  • Step 2: Enter the child’s first name and surname and DOB (the system will create the ID for you upon registering)
  • Step 3: Select a relevant player category from the dropdown selection and click “Register”
  • Step 4: Ensure all required fields are completed.
  • Step 5: If you want to use on Active Kids Voucher Number please use the discount code AKV50
  • Step 5: Complete Credit Card payment details 
  • Step 6: Once registered you will receive a confirmation email.
