About

Welcome to Williamstown Athletic Club

The Williamstown Athletic Club is the home of athletics for Melbourne’s inner western suburbs.  We provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in athletics.  If you’re a social jogger looking to improve your fitness or have previous experience in athletics we can cater to you.

We are affiliated with Athletics Victoria, the state representative body for athletics in Victoria and we participate in their competitions.  The competition season commences with the Cross Country Series (XCR) in May and goes through to September, then the Track and Field AV Shield competition commences in October and goes through to April.  We are a year round sport!

Both XCR and Track and Field seasons provide everyone, regardless of ability, the opportunity to participate in athletics in a fun and friendly way.  There are also opportunities for many athletes to participate at state, national and international competitions.

We have a team of experienced coaches that can help you improve your athletic skills in a range of events and disciplines.  Did you know that in athletics you can do more than just run? You can also participate in the jumping events – high jump, long jump and triple jump, and the throwing events – discus, javelin and shot put.  You can also hurdle and run the steeplechase! Our training sessions are mostly conducted at our home track at Newport Park Athletics Facility, the corner of the Strand and North Road, Newport.

We have a full IAAF standard synthetic athletic track and gym for use by our members.  We might be biased but we think our facilities are the best athletic facilities in the state.

Our club was established in 1925 and we have a long and proud history of participation in athletics.  Over the years we have had many commonwealth and Olympic representatives that we are very proud of…we’re proud of all our members in fact!

If you’re thinking about joining an athletic club or would like to know more, please contact us, you’ll love it!
