About the Whyalla Hockey Association

The Whyalla Hockey Association (WHA) was established in the 1990's as a result of a merger between the Whyalla Men's Hockey [1968] and the Whyalla Women’s Hockey Associations [1945].The WHA is responsible for the administration of hockey in Whyalla. The aims for which the Association is established and maintained are:

“Whyalla Hockey will be recognised as a quality provider of the sport of hockey for its members, potential members and the hockey community and acknowledged as a leading sporting organisation in terms of administration, development, participation, performance and profile”

Whyalla Sporting Community Club

Vision Statement:

To develop a facility that suits the planned activities and identified users, that meet the sport’s standards and enable competition at the appropriate level and create a place where people come to play, meet and connect with the local community. It is inviting and stimulating, visually sensitive and expressive, and has a feel good atmosphere for people of all ages and cultures.

Mission Statement:

Whyalla Sporting Community Club will offer and promote sport within the community and will provide facilities regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, degree of ability or disability.

Goals:

  • Members will be encouraged to become involved in all aspects of sport, and liaisons with schools, local authorities, leagues, sports associations and clubs will be strengthened.
  • To increase participation in sport, WSCC will nurture opportunities for members and the community at large in the following areas:

               - youth development

               - player development

               - coach/leader development

               - umpire provision and training

               - administrator development

  • To promote sports represented at WSCC at all levels through the provision of an infrastructure that facilitates performance.
  • To advance the pursuit of excellence through access to high quality playing areas and coaching of the highest standard.
