Wauchope Athletics Club

About

Our History

Wauchope Athletics Club has proudly supported athletics in the Hastings community for more than 50 years.

The club was originally established during the 1975–1976 season as Hastings District Little Athletics Centre and continued under that name until the 1985–1986 season. The club then operated as Wauchope and District Little Athletics Centre for two seasons.

In the 1991–1992 season, Wauchope reaffiliated and continued as Wauchope Little Athletics Centre. Since that time, the club has helped thousands of children develop their athletic ability, confidence, fitness and enjoyment of sport.

Blackbutt Park has been the home of the club for many years. From this location, Wauchope Little Athletics provided a comprehensive program of running, jumping and throwing events for athletes from Under 6 through to Under 20. A specially designed Tiny Tots program for children aged three to five was also conducted alongside the club’s regular competition nights.

Throughout its history, the club has continued to strive to create the best possible environment for athletes, regardless of their age, experience or ability.

Becoming Wauchope Athletics Club

In 2026, following approval from NSW Athletics to become a One Club, the Wauchope Little Athletics committee voted unanimously to rename the organisation Wauchope Athletics Club.

Becoming a One Club marked an exciting new chapter in the club’s history. It allowed Wauchope Athletics Club to expand its programs and welcome athletes of all ages, from Tiny Tots aged three through to junior, senior and masters competitors.

This transition ensures that athletics remains accessible to the entire Wauchope community and provides opportunities for athletes to participate recreationally, improve their fitness or progress through club, regional, state and national competition.
