Designed for our mini players aged 5–8 years, the Minkey Academy is the perfect introduction to hockey. Join us for our pre-season academy where children can learn the basics of the game in a relaxed, supportive environment — and make plenty of new friends along the way.

Registered players attending their first Minkey Academy session will receive a brand-new hockey stick, shin pads and playing top to keep. Our experienced coaches create a welcoming atmosphere, supporting new players while also helping families find their way into the hockey community.

Can’t make it every week? No problem. While weekly attendance isn’t required, we recommend participating in at least four Minkey Academy sessions. This allows players to graduate from the program and, once registered, join a team and play in competition.

Hockey is a sport for everyone. It is played equally by men and women across Australia and around the world, with our junior competitions remaining mixed all the way through to Under 17s. Many players continue to enjoy competitive hockey well into their 60s and 70s. The Minkey Academy is not just the start of a sport — it’s the beginning of friendships that can last a lifetime.
