All children have the fundamental right to feel safe, supported, and protected while participating in hockey. Every child deserves to take part in the sport within a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable environment free from abuse and harm.
Hockey Australia is dedicated to:
Providing safe and welcoming environments for all children and young people.
Implementing and enforcing child-safe policies and procedures.
Ensuring all participants, including coaches, officials, volunteers, and parents, are educated and informed about their responsibilities in safeguarding children.
Promoting a culture of safety, respect, and inclusivity within our hockey community.
Creating a safe hockey environment is everyone’s responsibility. Whether you are a player, coach, official, parent, or spectator, you play a crucial role in ensuring that hockey remains a safe space for all children and young people.
If you see or suspect any form of harm, misconduct, or inappropriate behavior, report it immediately to the appropriate authorities. By speaking up, you help us protect every child in hockey.
Mandatory Working with Children Checks (WWCC) for all coaches, volunteers, and officials working with young players.
Clear policies and procedures to prevent and respond to child abuse and misconduct.
Regular training and education for all involved in hockey.
Encouraging open communication so children feel safe to express concerns.
If you have concerns about a child's safety in hockey, please report it to Our Safety Officer or the local authorities immediately.
Together, we can ensure that hockey remains a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable sport for all children.
