Vicki’s Pride is a group of local (and not so local) men and women who come together to enjoy the water via the fantastic sport of dragon boating. For us it’s all about fun, friendship and fitness. It can be purely recreational or a competitive sport - racing events are held regularly both regionally and in the city.
Through the sport of dragon boating you’ll improve your overall fitness, develop your senses, and get a chance to take in the surrounds, travelling up and down the river, particularly early mornings and evenings. It’s hard work at times, but you’ll feel oh so good afterwards.
What’s a dragon boat, you ask?
The dragon boat is a long canoe that seats 20 paddlers sitting 2 abreast, plus a drummer at the front keeping time, and a sweep steering with a long oar at the back. Originally an ancient Chinese folk ritual, dragon boat racing has emerged in modern times as an international sport and there are local clubs throughout Australia. Vicki’s Pride is affiliated with Dragon Boat SA and the Australian Dragon Boat Association.
