2025 Sunshine Coast Winter Cross Country - 4 race Series Information
Competition Medal recipient - rules:
- Competitors must compete in the SAME medal event (age & distance) for at least 3 of the four SC Winter XC series races 0R 2 PLUS the QA SEQ Meet #5 to be eligible for a series medal
- Age Categories for XC series medal recipients are as follows:
- Age group is determined by the age the competitor is turning this year.
- School aged athletes - Medal distance races correspond to school regional race distances

- 8-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+ M/F

- SC Winter XC series race per points are based on their finishing position and are awarded as follows: 1st - 30; 2nd - 25; 3rd - 22; 4th - 20; 5th - 19; 6th - 18 & so on.
- An extra 10 points will be added to the progressive points tally, if the if the competitor does all 4 of OUR series ( this is new this year to reward competitors who do all 4 events of our series)
- Series progression points will be extrapolated in a fair manner from the results of the QA SEQ #5 race
- Series Medal winners will be determined by:
The best 3 results for each competitor from any of the following - SC Winter XC series races or the QA SEQ #5 race will be added together and places in each age group will be determined by:
highest score - 1st
2nd highest - 2nd
And third highest - 3rd
To compete all competitors MUST be either a:
- QA affiliated club member - such as *UniSC Athletics
- QA Base
- Qrun
- QMA member to compete.
Excludes 3-7 years 500m fun run athletes.
UniSC Athletics offers a discounted Winter Season membership – $25 (mid March to Sept 30) and by joining, members have access to a $5 per race discount. Members also have discounts for the Winter Carnival, off season mini meets, State XC Relay competition and so on …

Fees:
- Race nominations attract a 'per race distance' fee & can ONLY be accepted online via the revsports portal. (Excluding the 500m Fun Run)
- Nominations will close – Friday 9am before the cross-country race. No late nominations will be accepted

- $14 per race – Non-UniSC Athletics members
- $9 per race – UniSC Athletics members when the 25XC is *validated.

*To validate the discount code you must nominate via your member portal. Log in to your member portal, using your user name & password. If you pay full fee price, UniSC Athletics CANNOT reimburse you. Link - How to validate discount code explained.
Results - will be posted on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning on:
General Event Rules
- As per World Athletics rules - RED CONES WILL BE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE COURSE & WHITE CONES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE COURSE
- A course MAP will be provide before the race day - on the website, and emailed. And will also be available for viewing on the race day. It is expected that the competitor will check the map BEFORE their race start.
- BIB'S MUST be attached to the front torso and must be placed so that they DO NOT obstruct the RFID chip signal to the electronic timing devise at the finishing line. Competitors who wear watches - PLEASE CHECK YOUR TIME - AFTER YOU HAVE CROSSED THE FINISHING LINE AS YOUR ARM WILL OBSTRUCT THE SIGNAL! And you will not receive an electronic time. We will have no choice but to estimate your time.
- BIB's have attached RFID chips and need to be removed and placed in the tub at the conclusion of the race.
- Competitors can compete in more than one race on the day so long as it is at a different start time
- All Ages Events (in RED on Program) & the 3-7 years Fun Run are NOT series medal events
- 6-year old’s run in the Free 500m Fun Run. They do have the option to run up in the *ALL Ages 1k, however, they MUST join UniSC Athletics ($25) and nominate online
- 7-year old’s can run in the Free Fun Run
- 8 years & older MUST join UniSC Athletics or one of the above options & nominate through revsports, they cannot run in the 500m fun run.
A FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION .... Can my child run a longer distance than what is being offered. They run in our local park run? The answer is NO Because, being an athletics club and insured by our governing association, we must abide by the recommendations & rules of the relevant associations when providing competition both on the track & cross country.
UniSC event distances align with school and/or athletics associations recommendations for competitive running. As a guide or for a better understanding of the associations policy, below are the:
- Medals & fun run ribbons will be presented at the final cross-country race of the series
- Protests will not be considered
- SHOES - UniSC Athletics committee have made a decision that for safety concerns all runner including the 3-7 years are required to wear foot-ware
- UniSC Athletics will have an assigned photographer/s at the event. Please contact us if you have concerns.
- Race photographs will be uploaded to a UniSC Athletics pixieset site. PLEASE NOTE ALL DOWNLOADS WILL BE MONITORED BY ADMIN.
