The competition follows an approach of ‘Mixed, Modified and Mentored’ and welcomes players of all ages, genders, and skill levels. Rules are adapted to ensure safety: overheads and tomahawks are prohibited, and only juniors or new players may score, encouraging teamwork and inclusivity. Fair play guidelines ensure experienced players support and mentor newcomers, fostering rapid development.

It is Mixed; in that anyone can play. We have 10 year olds holding a stick for the first time, right up to first grade players.

Modified; in that rules are modified to ensure a safe environment given the vast range of experience on the pitch.

Mentored; we find that we can surround new and emerging players with experienced mentors rather than just one coach on the sideline. The difference it makes in the development and confidence of our new players, as a entry point into the sport is simply extraordinary.

We also introduced last year the "Zooper Duper" penalty - given when an experienced player does not look after one of the new players on the other team in the spirit of the competition. The penalty requires the experienced player to leave the pitch, grab a zooper duper and consume it before they can return to the game. It is invariably hilarious.

We also offer umpire mentoring for juniors. Confident junior umpires may officiate independently and receive $30 per game.
