Adult Learn to Sail

Experience sailing and learn the basics in the heart of Melbourne on Albert Park Lake. The safe and protected waters provide the ideal location for anyone to get out on the water, even when it is too windy on the bay. We offer introductory sessions (no experience needed). Our experienced and knowledgeable instructors are all qualified Australian Sailing Instructors who will ensure you have the most enjoyable experience. Start Sailing courses total to 9 hours of sailing instruction and on water practice. 

The Australian Sailing accredited Dinghy Program targets adults and provides a safe and enjoyable introduction to dinghy sailing. The courses have been developed to introduce you to the world of sailing while providing you with the necessary skills and knowledge to be confident on the water.

What are the different levels? 

Start Sailing 1 

Your Discover Sailing journey starts here as you learn fundamental sailing skills and are introduced to the fun of dinghy sailing in a safe and supportive environment. This course covers rigging a boat, boat launching, basics of learning how to sail and capsize recovery in shallow water.

Start Sailing 2 

This course is offered to those who have completed a Start Sailing 1 course. This course builds on the sailing knowledge learned in Start Sailing 1, allowing participants to sail triangular courses, learn upwind sailing and improve boat handling abilities.

Better Sailing 

This course is offered to participants who have completed Start Sailing 1 & 2. This course will solidify your sailing knowledge, allowing participants to sail in windier conditions, whilst learning how to identify weather and environmental conditions.
