Junior golfers located in the North Queensland will have the opportunity to access specialised coaching from Golf Australia/PGA Professional Ji McBryde. Participating juniors will also learn about Queensland's Participation Pathway and Talent Identification process.
Since 2021 the Golf Australia Queensland's Junior Emerging Talent Program delivered outstanding results with face to face contact and the inclusion of additional contact points during the year via Webex. These camps are not new to our development pathway. The camps structure and content supports the athlete during the entire year with continued communication and connection. The wellbeing of the athlete and their continued development is a big focus again in 2026.
We are extremely excited about the 2026 Junior Emerging Talent Program as they will provide ongoing touch points during the year as opposed to a one-off visit to the region.
With an extended approach utilising technology like Webex and a coaching app called CoachNow we are excited to create a strong community with extended connections for players, parents, and regions.
To participate in these camps, juniors will:
- Be aged between 10 to 17 years of age
- Be a financial member of a GA affiliated club
- Be a financial member of TeeMates Connect/Plus to access the program at no cost (see info below in notes)
- Have an official Golf Australia handicap of 25.4 or less
- Need to commit to both days of the camp
- Need to commit to a minimum of 4 Teams sessions
Notes:
- 9 or 13 hole participants are not eligible to participate
- Participants who are not financial member of TeeMates Connect/Plus but do have an official GA handicap of 25.4 or less can participate for a fee of $150.
The TeeMates Annual Membership Fee allows participation in the Junior Emerging Talent Program. If you are not a financial member of TeeMates Connect ($49) or Plus ($109) and meet the criteria above you can participate for a fee of $150 or join TeeMates here. The program value to the athlete is in excess of $1500, and this includes the practical coaching over the 2-day camp itself, CoachNow access, Teams invitations and service providers delivery fees, and staff monitoring of CoachNow with feedback provided.
The development & support of the athlete is a major consideration for the reshaping and improvement of the camp structure, and we would encourage all parents and eligible golfers to participate in the Junior Emerging Talent Program session and pathway.
The program will be conducted at the Townsville Golf Club on Sat 17th & Sun 18th January 2026.
- Sat 17 January from 9am – 3pm
- Sun 18 January from 8am - 2pm
